Groups for Children and Youth
 |
 |
Strong social and emotional skills are important to have as we manoeuvre through life. These skills help us to get along with classmates, develop successful friendships, handle difficult times, and help to build self-esteem and confidence.
Developing skills such as sharing, helping, following direction, conversation skills, manners, sympathy, empathy, problem solving and conflict resolution will benefit children throughout their life. Some children learn these skills quite easily through a combination of watching others, and reminders from parents and teachers. For others who may be shy, withdrawn, anxious or aggressive some additional training may be beneficial.
Through fun filled activities and role playing, positive re-enforcement and correction, new social skills can be learned and enhanced, helping children to be more confident and competent as they move towards a stronger future.

Anger Management
 |
This group has been designed for children and youth who are having difficulties controlling their frustration and anger.
Through fun filled activities and practice sessions, children and youth learn how to understand a variety of emotions and the resulting physical and emotional responses. Practice sessions help to identify the consequences of impulsive behaviour and angry outbursts and teach positive conflict resolution.
Children and youth learn to understand how anger causes tension in the body and to recognize their anger triggers. By recognising the triggers, new responses and behaviours can be developed.

The Girls Only Group
Girls express their anger and frustrations differently than boys. Rumours, gossip, insults, physical aggression, and excluding other girls are just a few examples of negative behaviours.
In this girls only group, girls will have special support to deal with the negative behaviours and learn how to problem solve, cope with anger, and assert themselves in a positive way, resulting in improving confidence and the ability to make new friendships.
